You Should have Auto Defrag setup for at least 1 Time a week
Spyware Auto Scans setup up for 1 time every 2-3 days
and Virus scans weekly

Check your autostart apps every 2 weeks for junk!
and setup your browser to flush history and temp junk every time you close it.
Clean windows temp files weekly
Reset Modem and router 1 time every 2 weeks

If you keep up with this stuff your magicjack will work WAY BETTER and your system will run much smoother
I reboot once every 15-20 days and i only consume under 300megs of ram after 15 days!

I totally ditto! Take care of yr puters and they will sing and dance happily. I do all of the above every day. FYI, I find the fab freeware, JK Defrag GUI to be the best:

Also, make sure you use a good firewall; I like free Comodo

for a firewall I use Armor2Net, works good and its stable I have used it for years... It works at a low level like all good firewalls and dosent bother you about anonymous request and such. I also you Avast Home Edition because its free and I use Windows Defrag.

I am not Familiar with that firewall but will now Google. I like AVG free which is now bundled with antispy....tho I use more than one antispy. But clearly yr puter or puters=HAPPY!

I use spybot with auto update for spyware keep up on spyware scans.... CAN'T say that enough

Ditto again....I use that as well....also 3 others. I think my fav is Superantispy. I bought pro version....lifetime subscription; very little money, runs actively to preclude insects, customizable scans and very effective.

I do not get why people I know never bother to learn how to keep their systems happy & healthy since they use them every day. Just takes commitment. I am V tired of fixing others' systems & trying to educate.

I have a feeling some people blame their MJs & their ostensible issues for undiagnosed underlying issues in their systems.

I agree I think people just need to be educated on system maintenance. I know tech support is poor but I had 0 major issues... if enoughf people want more info I will write a how-to....

But note, in my case, MJ installed immediately on two of my systems but not my go to desktop. People here....were AMAZING....and poor, DEAR Richard Bone, the pundit got so exhausted he hadda take sabbatical, OMG. And in my case....I came to I hadda do clean install of OS, which we would rather eat worms than have to do. So it really is case-specific. But clearly, no way was it my MagicJack.

By the by, I also use and LUV Vtech cordless phone! But I use it for my land line. In some things, U do NOT get what U pay for.

I use avast anti virus. It's the best free AV I've found and I've tried alot. Plus it's got what it calls a "mini firewall".

I also use a product called advanced windows care (google it). Best all in one cleaner/spyware remover/registry fix/startup organizer/ and more, that I've found. I run this product on my computer when ever I feel it's slowing down (once a week) and it fixes it right up.

Other then that I'll run the windows defrag maybe once a month.

I've got an old Dell Dimension 2400 with 512 ram and 75 gb harddrive that I've had for 5 years now and never had a problem with it.

Oh, and before I forget, I LOVE MAGIC JACK!

Yes! AWC! I was a tester on this puppy for Hugo and the amazing guys at iobit in China!!! They R the best. Yes! We luv our MagicJacks! But I am amazed at how defensive some who went Vonage get when I exult in detail.....mainly guys, wut does that tell us? Nothing, I am kidding. But not really....cause False Pride is a sin, right? Should a genius device with its own network ....something you can carry around....be fodder for some CONTEST? No. It's NFL crap.

Also note....these are the same humans who, when way back I said Celtics in 6; Kobe is an infant.....after it unfolded just like I said.....got petulant. If they do not go MJ....it's their loss. Grow up and Get Real and get MagicJack....learn to GO LEFT!!!!

PS...while the guys at iobit are scrupulous re improving each module in their apps ongoing, and the last BETA build of AWC is amazing, the anti spy module still does not get all the tracking cookies. I test all my apps ongoing and in sequence...the only way to do this....and Superantispy still gets em all.....tho AWC is amazing and in a class by itself and gets better all the time.
