Incoming Calls Not Always Ringing Thru

Post by tp »

I have a buddy who has this problem of his incoming calls not ringing his phones and going straight to voicemail. He has tried the old "mah bell" phones and newer cordless phones. Nothing seems to help. I guess it could be a phone thing, but I am wondering if anyone else had this problem and found a solution.

Thanks in advance,

Tp

He is running XP Sp2.

If he's running a firewall on his system, it's possible that the firewall is preventing the calls from coming through. Also have him check to make sure on his softphone that it shows ready to call. Depending on the area code he's in, it's possible that MJ is having some issues within that area code.

Well it's kind of weird. The MJ softphone always shows up, and the 911 button is green, but if I call him, about every other call goes thru. For example, I just called him 4 times. The first time it went straight to VM. The second time it rang half a ring, and then nothing, the third time straight to VM, the fourth rang 5 times and then VM. (He's not home right now). I tried it again, and got about the same results. Do you think it could be the prefix? Like I said the softphone is showing ready.

Same thing happens with mine. Either the call goes through ok, goes right to voicemail, or goes nowhere are at all.

This sucks as I use it mostly for work stuff.

Same thing with me. To fix this I unplug the magicjack from the USB port and plug it back in and it lets me receive calls. This works temporarily but not permanently.
