Neophyte user needs help with voicemail

Post by Cape Cod Therese »

I am a brand new user to MagicJack. After much bumbling around with the voice mail I finally have customized my messages, name, etc. However, when someone calls me they still get the generic answering voice. My new password "took", but nothing else. Was there some final action I needed to do? Also, I have been using the jack for a week now, it seems to work pretty well, but I noticed that two days ago, I could no longer hear any MJ over the speakers attached to my computer. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

When recording your outgoing message, do it under keypad #4 "record temp greeting". When someone calls you, they will get the message you leave in that section.

For the sound issue, make sure you have the setting on your softphone set to either phone or headset. I believe if you have it set to headset, your sound will come thru your puters speakers or a headset if attatched. Also check your volume settings both on your puter and on the softphone.

Thank you, Lone Star, the instructions for audio worked. Now I am struggling with the greeting under #4 because once I do the greeting, I want to listen, which is prompt #2, but when I press it it sends me into some kind of loop, saying press #1 to accept, press #2 to listen, press #3 to rerecord. I am just going around and around. When someone calls me, they will get the number 4 greeting, not the number 1 greeting, correct? Thanks for the help.

No prob....

If you saved your message after recording using key 4, then yeah....people who call you will hear that message. You can test this by calling yourself using your MJ phone. So, after you hit 4....record your message and hit # when done, then the voice will prompt hit 1 to save...... then just hang up and call yourself back and you will hear your outgoing VM.

Also, if you didn't know, when someone leaves you a VM, you will also get an email that someone left you a VM. So, by just checking your email, you'll know someone left you a VM.

Glad you were able to get your sound issues worked out.
