Anyone else getting choppy calls this evening?

Post by lonestarmagic »

For some unknown reason this evening while calling local or long distance, both outgoing voice and incoming voice is really choppy.

Just curious if anyone else is having this same problem tonight.

Not sure I would call it choppy but incoming sounded more like she was talking under-water. Outgoing was fine. Seems to have cleared up now though, as the last call was fine.
Accede to my demands or the penguin gets it...

It was really bad in Western NC last night. Seems to be OK today.

Is there a way to tell if it's an internet or a MagicJack problem?

Choppy voicemail too

Seems like what I hear is choppy today, in hearing either call or message.
The person at the other end said my voice is clear, but volume is weak.

Donno about checking to see if it's the internet or MJ issue. I assume it's an MJ issue since I've had really clear calls for the last two months with no issues. This just seems to have started yesterday and I tried again today and the calls still sound choppy/some words getting cut out.

Well, yesterday it was very bad for outgoing call in Eastern NC to land line. Incoming calls and cell phone (ATT) were fine.

Its been hit or miss here in Maryland - the other night it took me 2-3 times to get thru w/o the choppyness. I could hear it in the ring and knew it was gonna be bad. Today my wife called me and the 1st time it was choppy but the call-back was fine - excellent voice quality w/no extraneous noises.

I live in Mississippi, but I have a magicJack with a 703 area code in Virginia. I have had some very garbly (underwater sounding) speech, coming back to me, but it is an intermittent situation. It doesn't happen all the time. Still waiting for a 228 area code to be established. Dan the man said it would be within 60 days. That was back in early March. It is now August 7th!! Promises promises!!

You might try the change number procedure to see if your area code is there now. I checked mine one day-not there. Next day area code and local prefix were there!! You can just "X" out if not there. Good luck!!

Don't know about this evening, but i have this problem with about every 3rd call all the time. Don't really know what to do about it. I can call the same number repeatedly and it will go through about every 2 of 3 calls. One of the three calls will have choppy or skipping audio. Anybody else have anymore ideas?
