One of my mJs updated itself this afternoon. So, I downloaded the downgrade, and then changed my hosts file.
I clicked on the downgrade, and it loaded, and then it wanted my reg info. I typed it in, and it immediately shut down, and upgraded itself again.
So, I double-checked my hosts file, and yep, upgrade.talk4free.com is set to 0.0.0.0. So, I go to the cmd prompt, and ipconfig /flushdns.
Then I reload the downgrade, and try again.
And, after I enter my reg info, it updates me again.
So, I go into Documents and Settings/My User/Application/ and delete the mjusbsp folder. This should get rid of any traces of that update.
So, I run the downgrade again, type in my reg info, and bam, it upgrades me again.
With the upgrade in place, I cannot hear the audio, as already mentioned.
So, anyone have an idea of how I can keep it from upgrading me?

If you actually have that period between 0.0.0.0 and upgrade, that's what's screwing you up. The line should look like this--garem wrote:Followed all steps then the update2 installed. Can someone let me see what the exact code in the hosts file for 0.0.0.0.upgrade... looks like, maybe I did that wrong?
0.0.0.0 upgrade.talk4free.com.
No period after the last zero.

OKAY, I GIVE UP!! Where is the HOSTS file located? In a folder on the PC? Do you just create a text file called HOST? Where do you place it and what lines need to be included? I would love to be able to retain a specific version that I know has worked fine, so I need to revert to the 1.73.4153.2910 version. Eve since the Upgrade2 version was placed on my system, everyone is complaining about the loud feedback noises on their end, whereas my side of the convo sounds clear as a bell. The noise complaints did not occur prior to the latest upgrade. Please provide any helpful assistance you can to help me resolve the noise issues. My callers are getting very annoyed!
Thanks!

OK, I have found the Host file. The Host file does not appear to be a standard file format that Notepad can edit without turning it into a ".txt" file format. What program do you use to edit the file, and how do you save it in the correct format recognized by Windows? I would love to change to a closer Proxy1 Server, and this seems to be the place where I can do that also. Step-by-step procedures for doing the change would be helpful.
Thanks!
Yeah notepad likes to tack on the .txt Just go ahead and let it then right click on the file and rename it. hosts. Yes that is a dot at the end with nothing after it. The hosts file has no extension and entering the dot followed by nothing will do that for ya.Roozie wrote:Delta-9 wrote:C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
