What happened to MagicFix?
I can't seem to find MagicFix at the Web site anymore. Anybody know what happened to it? (Not that I thought it really did much...)
The Canadian web site has the fixes - http://www.themagicjack.ca/
Have you tried that link lately - it does not have the MagicFIX either. Both sites say they do (USA and Canada) but they don't.gls wrote:The Canadian web site has the fixes - http://www.themagicjack.ca/

MagicFix Has Been Withdrawn for Modification
I asked a MagicJack Support Rep where I could I could find the MagicFix program. The rep said they have pulled MagicFix from the website to make modifications to it. No word on when the update would be available. So what else is new!!! This may take as long as getting new area codes made available to anxious and long-in-the-waiting user base. We shall see!

Never used MagicFix while it lasted...
Here's however some Java tool available on MJ site right now:
http://support.magicjack.com/hybridizer/macUpgrade.html
Is that what they called MagicFix before?

gls, I surely, still don't understand what in the world you're talking about.HolmanGT - use the magicJack Canada site - http://www.themagicjack.ca/ bottom of the page
Even if I go to the URL you provide, and see a graphic for magicFix at the bottom, if I click on it, it takes me to http://www.magicjack.com/1/magicfix.asp. That site is the regular mJ support site, and has NO magicFix. Have you tried it?

Nope, that's not it. Back a few months, new mJs did NOT have Mac compatibility out of the box. You had to use the hybridizer on a PC to "upgrade" your mJ to work on a Mac. To my knowledge, all mJs that you could buy now already are "hybrid" and work on Mac or PC.teddy_b wrote:Never used MagicFix while it lasted...

However, part of the function of the hybridizer was to, as I understand it, completely wipe and format your mJ flash memory and partitioning the space, creating one partition for a PC, and one for the Mac. This can have the effect of clearing out your whole mJ files and anything that might have gotten corrupted, and replacing it with fresh copies. This might solve problems for you, even if you're not planning to ever use a Mac. So, it might still be a useful tool if you have an older version of the mJ hardware.
Re: MagicFix Has Been Withdrawn for Modification
From what I hear, they're getting ready to switch over to new servers/platforms too. There's two redundant units, per state. They're entirely switching platforms from the acquisition of Emergent by Stratus, which probably has most of their attention. Ease up on these guys... it's the developers pulling double duty as support engineers too!Roozie wrote:I asked a MagicJack Support Rep where I could I could find the MagicFix program. There's no magicFix there, either.jedinyt wrote:try this one -> http://www.magicjack.com/8/magicfix.asp
When I first got the MJ I had saved the "Fix" URL in my Favs. This is it http://www.magicjack.com/magicfix/ . It now does not say "Fix" but instead directs you towards updating your MJ. An update may fix whatever the problems are.....short of going through to their online support or to Dan direct. Good luck.
