Hi,
I recently purchased the Majic Jack and have registered online as well. I have a Chicago phone number but I'm having slight problems. Currently, I live in the Middle East and my accomodations use the CISCO IP Phones. The way they work is I a 3M outlet in the wall with an Ethernet cable that connects directly into the CISCO phone. Then the actual phone headset has a phone line that connects into the CISCO phone itself. Now, which part of the phone line do I connect into the Majic Jack? Is it the one from the phone headset or from the phone itself? I tried using taking out the phone line from the headset and plugging it into the Majic Jack. I then used a headset from my computer to speak to my family. Unfortunately, I could hear them but they could not hear me. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Sorry I'm not familiar with Cisco phones but I can help you with using the computer headset with magicjack.
Click "Menu" on the softphone then select "volume/headset control" make sure the radio button labeled "headset/other" is checked.
Below that they are 3 dropdown menus
1. "speaker/earpiece" make sure the computers sound card is selected.
2. "Microphone" again make sure the computers sound card is selected .
3. "Ringing" that should also be the pc's sound card.
That should do it.
P.S. if youre using an USB headset then you select that instead of the pc's sound card.

Cisco IP Phone.
Wow really...its a Cisco IP phone... it uses a network connection to make a phone call not a phone line.
You will not use the Cisco phone at all when you are using the magicJack. The MJ is a device that lets you make and receive phone calls through your PC, and has nothing to do with your ordinary telephone or its service.
How does your PC receive services through the internet? Does it use WiFi? Is there a jack in your apartment that supplies internet service? Regardless of how your PC connects, you must plug the USB end of your magicJack into an available USB slot on your PC and then plug an ordinary telephone (NOT the Cisco Phone) that is certified to work with the North American PSTN into the RJ11 jack of the MJ. Only phones that have a real FCC Registration Number certifying this PSTN compliance, almost 20 characters long, are compatible with MJ.
