skipping or wobbling audio

does anyone have any idea how to correct the skipping audio on the MJ? It only does it on half of the calls. I have to call the party back in order to understand them. The other half of the calls have a little clicking noise but, the calls are just fine.

My problem was that my Network card was not optimized for th fast DSL on my Windows XP. I fixed this matter and now the clarity is solid.

I'm having a problem with my audio sometimes. About once or twice out every ten calls made to my MJ, never with a call made out, I'll get a skipping, choppy, slowed down, gargled audio. The caller can hear me fine, but I can't make out much of what they are saying. I'll ask them to call me back, and when they do the call is clear.

I'll try to optimize my network card and see if that helps. Do you think it will work, or do you think my problem sound different then yours? Thanks.

This might help,

First check version #:right click -> Properties on the MagicJack.exe file inside the program directory, then click the Version tab.

Path to the MagicJack program folder is: c:\documents and settings\(your user profile name)\application data\mjusbsp


Everyone should be running 1.80.447.1 or 4471 version.If not upgrade software.

Next make sure to do second part of fix for "garbled" sound problems on XP machine.


Right click on "my computer" then select "Properties".
Click the "Advanced Tab"
You will see a something called "Performance" click on the "Settings" button there.
Now click the "Advanced" Tab in there as well.
Now you will see something called "Processor Scheduling". There check the round button called "Background Services"
Now click "Apply" and then "OK"
Click "OK" again.
Now reboot/restart your magicJack and try a couple of calls to see if the quality improves.

I have this audio issue intermittenly myself so I checked my MagicJack version number.

Mine says version 1.80.447.1
Build date: 7/22/2008 at 12:45 PM.
Size 11.1 MB

I'm running Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1.

Mudgemania can you supply a link to this 11.1 MB version. The one they just told me to download was 8.4 MB. Thanks.

Edit: The new upgrade download size is 8.4 MB and decompress to Magicjack.exe at 11.1 MB. Thank You for the tip.
