Magic Jack not working

I got a magic jack and plugged it into my computer (XP). A screen pops up with "Download in progress please do not unplug" and thats it. It lasts for ever and ever and nothing ever happens. What should I do?
I am not particularly tech savvy, and would appreciate it if someone would take me stepwise into fixing it.

You might have to try the MJ on a different computer. I found that it works on 2 or my 3 computers, but it makes the third one constantly reboot.

I'm on my second mj and have spent almost 10 hours with online techs. They finally just dropped me. Now I'm stuck for $80 and they can't help at all. It would not have been so bad if they said gee we can't help you, send it back for a full refund. But they didn't do that. they just stopped typing and dropped the call.

I can't get the mj to ring for an outgoing call. other phones calling mj do not ring but do go directly to my not home message. can anyone help me?

Who can I complain to to get my money back?

Got mine today.

Problem:

Plugged it in and device software loaded automatically but no registration screen ever popped up.

Logged in to my MajicJack account and it said my number was blocked in RED

I didn't have a number yet

Went to "Install Help" on packaging and tried 1. 2. and 3.

Next easy fix says to go to www.majicJack.com and " click customer car" to run magicFix

Well, there is nothing called magicFix on that page and search of the site didn't help.

FIX:

Click "CustomerCare/live person" at bottom of the majicjack.com page

Click "Get live help in seconds"

Where you see:

"IMPORTANT: For the latest upgrades, please Click Here"

Click the blue button and save the file and run the file upgrade.exe.

It should self install and upgrade the software.

Mine ran and took me to the registration page and allowed me to select my phone number.

Now it works great and I am now using it.

Make sure that you computer is running on service pack 2 I had the same problem until I upgraded.
