PNY memory failure

Post by booyah5 »

I bought a stick of PNY PC2700 Optima, stuck it in my t5700 and it gets stuck at the HP bios logo and doesn't proceed further. Pushing the power button does nothing; pushing keys does nothing. pulling the power cable is the only way to clear it. Plugging the power back in, it goes right back to that frozen screen.

I checked numerous times to make sure it's seated well, I feared perhaps something shorted upon installation, but when I put the stock 256MB back in, it worked fine.

Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else. Any resolution other than return/replace?

PNY memory failure

Post by marlonsito »

Yes, I bought the same memory this week and the thin client never booted. I tried different things including updating the BIOS but with the same result. I had return the PNY memory and get a new one. The new memory that I got is a Markvision 512MB DDR 400 SODIMM. With this new memory the thin client run perfectly. I got this memory locally but I think that you can get it on the internet too.

I am using PNY PC2700 Optima 512 with no problems. Maybe you just wound up with a bad stick.

Can someone confirm the PNY Optima memory worked on their hp t5700 specifically?

The reason I'd like to know is whether I should ask for a refund or a replacement.

Get a refund (or use the RAM in something else) -- the Thin Clients appear to be a bit picky about RAM; recommendations here.

Yeah I've setup a return with Amazon.

I'll go with the other recommendation. I should have bought that anyways, but was side tracked elsewhere.
