Hi Everyone:
In trying to replace Vonage with MJ in home, we are experiencing problems.
MJ works fine both for In/out calls using GC when MJ is connected directly to a telephone. In the settings of GC, MJ phone # is added and the phone rings when GC # is called.
We use currently Vonage for our home telephone system -- the telephone wire from Vonage box is connected to one of the wall jacks of home . Thus In/Out calls are made from any phone in our home using Vonage.
In our test we disconnected the telephone wire at the Vonage box end and connected to the MJ. We expected all the phones in our home to function properly usin MJ. But we have problems.
When GC # is called from a outside phone say a cell phone, the home telephones do not ring and we see the MJ soft phone pad pops up on the computer screen with caller ID and Accept / Reject call option. When Accept is clicked, the call does not go thru.
Has anyone successfully replaced Vonage with MJ in a home ? If this sublect has already been discussed in our forum, I would appreciate if someone post a link
Thanks in anticipation of your reply.

Has anyone successfully replaced home Vonage system with MJ?

Hi:
MJ works with a single phone connected. If voltage/current poses a limitation to drive all the phones in a home , I wonder if a USB booster might provide enough voltage/current to drive all the phones in a home. As someone pointed out, there could be a risk with the MJ hardware burn out. Any ideas ?

A powered USB Hub may very well help you. How many phones do you have connected in your house. Try disconnecting all but one and then plug them back in one at a time to see how many MJ can support. Assuming of coarse it works with just one connected. In general the newer phones require less current to operate and work better with MJ which doe shave limited power output capability.anant wrote:Hi Everyone:

Sad Times Ahead for this Obamanation !!!! Psalms 109:8
the ring current is not sufficient to ring all the phones in your house and to power them as well.
an easy solution to get the MJ to work on more than one phone is to get a cordless phone system using dect 6.0 techonolgy where only one phone will be plugged into the MJ. the rest of the phones only require power and works off the wireless spectrum in the 1.9, 2.4 or 5ghz spectrum. These phones only cost less than $100 and comes with anywhere from 2 to 5 phones depending on the brand and time that you are buying. I managed to get a panasonic with the base and total of 4 cordless handsets for less than $100 during the sale.

I have a similar issue as you. I currently use Vonage (2 lines on a 4 line phone) and all 12 phones ring without a problem. However, my magicJack (line 3) will only ring about 8 of the 12 phones (RCA 25414RE3). Not really a big deal since there are 8 phones ringing, you can still hear the phones ringing throughout the house. Check the REN specs (how much ringing power) on the phones you are using, you may want to find phones that have a very low REN load.

Hi caudill22:
My objective is to retire vonage service and use only MJ in the whole house. Are you able to make in/out calls from the 8 phones connected to MJ? 8 phones are plenty for me.

Replacing Vonage with MJ
Hi Ktg:
Thanks for your suggestion. I have checked the prices for a panasonic system 3-sets of cordless phones within about $90.00. This should definitely work.
