t5000 rather than t5700

I may be able to acquire a t5000 from my boss at work, so I'm wondering if anyone knows it's at all possible to do the thin-client/magicjack setup with a t5000 rather than the t5700 series.

I don't think that it will work because MJ requires XP or Vista to run. I don't believe that the T5000 runs embedded XPe and you will need at least at T5700 or T5710.

But if it's free, take it anyway. Who knows what use you can find for it

haha, good point, and thanks for the reply lymon.

The t5000s we have here do come preloaded with XPe though. Is that all I'll need?

Ps. is it just me or do the forums here run like molasses sometimes?

xpe is definitely a must! Win CE will not work. As for memory and flash I think 256/256 is the minimum required.
Edit: I did a little research on the t5000 and it looks like it runs on win CE not xpe. If I'm correct then it would not be good for Magicjack.

I'm sure you're right, but the t5000's we have here (they look a bit older) actually have the XPe designation labled on them... 256 mem too. Ohwell, the point is moot anyways, the boss let me have one of the newer thin clients we have, which turn out to be t5720s

Hmm, well I guess that technically all of them are T5000 series. My T5700 says "T5000" on the case, but the stick on label identifies it as a T5700.

Anyway, nice score on getting the T5720!

I'm with you on this one as far as I know there is no such thing as a model T5000. The T5000 is a group designation that encompasses the models T5700 thru T5730. If I am wrong would someone kindly post a link to a T5000 model.

I will work if you install windows xp on it as I have the TC5500 with the 733 processor and CE after I replaced the 32meg flash witha a 4 gig SD card I was able to load windows XP and run my MJ on it ..

Is there no limitation of the size od SD card you can use? I'm sure that the RAM is limited...what about the Flash?

actually it was a compact flash card with the ide adapter interface I bought the kingston 4 gig for $19 at fry's the limit is what your budget as the 8 gig one was $50 not worth it for my simple MJ server...

side4, I'm contemplating doing exactly what you did. Quick question: the IDE/CF adapter that I have has a jack for a power connector. Did you kludge something, or will a CF card work without it?
