Help me before my wife KILLS ME!

Here are a few problems I am having with MJ. I've had it for about 3 months and love the cost... However, my wife is about to kill me!!!

1. This is the BIGGEST problem. Pretty often when people call us it never rings. The person on the other end hears it ringing but we never get the call.


2. The Voicemail doesn't always prompt to leave a message. The phone will ring and ring and then just shut off.

3. CID doesn't work 90% of the time. (I have read some threads on this and am going to try the fix)


My wife is a substitute teacher for area schools and if she doesn't get the call then she doesn't get the job. This has been really frustrating. Anyone have any ideas to fix my problems?

also could be firewall,router,internet options settings.

Thanks for the link I'll try the suggestions. I worry that this isn't the problem though because this PC is basically just for my MJ.

Setting MagicJack.exe to high is only recommended for MagicJack only dedicated machines!

aluminex... I probably can't help, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm having similar problems (#1 & #2) with my <expletive deleted> Verizon cell phone. Lately, when someone calls, it just puts them directly into VM or it just rings until they hang up. And I'm paying nearly $300 a month for the family plan.

Sorry I couldn't offer more assistance but it may be bigger than just the MJ. FWIW

A lot of times it just depends on the phone you use. Sometimes a cheap $5 phone will do the trick. Other times a more expensive cordless phone will work. I don't know if there is a formula or pattern there or not. Is your phone connected directly to the MJ? Have you tried a powered hub to supply more power to MJ for ringing voltage? Sometimes switching USB ports on the computer itself will do the trick.

Further not I would suggest running the upgrade or maybe even a downgrade and a powered usb hub wouldent be bad also scan for spyware and defrag ((((((SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IS EVERYTHING))))))

1) Make sure you have only 1 device plugged into MJ (MJ really does not have enough REN to ring too many devices)
2) Many in this Forum report success when using powered USB Hubs; search for "powered usb hub" (all terms)
3) Try the Resistor Fix, if you are appropriately adept, OR try one of the highly recommended phones, or this link about phones, or this link about phones posted in this forum that "work"
4) Consider adding a FREE Inbound Calling plan from various other Providers as a "Backup" to MJ -- you will need an ATA ($25 on eBay) and you could put it behind GrandCentral for a Free DID phone # in your local area code. (I believe GrandCentral is honoring new number requests from their web site again.) This way one number could ring BOTH your MJ and your Free Inbound -- no missed calls (unless GC goes down; I believe that has only happened once since they have been up).
Example: IPKall+FreeWorldDialup(can also add GrandCentral for local area code) OR GrandCentral+GizmoProject = Completely FREE inbound Calls

You could also just put you/your wife's cell phones behind GC in addition to the MJ # so that all devices ring appropriately.

In the fickle land of VOIP; I just don't believe in betting the farm on any one provider.

Don't Speak for others! On top of speaking for others you are assuming others feel the way you do! My wife can be a bitch and if you knew her you would agree, Same with ALL my friends wife's they can be bitches also. There is no call for you to speak for others so like I said before "STOP CRYING!". You have some serious hypersensitivity issues!
