I have been a long term user of MJ for the last 15 months. I have gone through the trials and tribulations of the MJ. It got so tiresome after awhile trying to get the "fix" of MJ working that I decided to abandon MJ and try Ooma.

After two weeks with Ooma, there has not been one glitch or malfunction. The voice quality for outgoing and incoming calls has been excellent.

Customer service has been okay, at least you get a live voice to talk with. They are knowledgeable and immediately fixed a minor problem.

I'm not using the scout because I have no need for it and I will sell it reducing my cost for Ooma.

MY only fear is will they stay in business? It is encouraging that you can now buy Ooma at Best Buy (which I did) and at Staples.

MJ has more features, namely the soft phone which I liked but as a pure phone MJ can't compare.

I still have MJ on my computer in case.

Just think, two weeks without a dropped call, no screeches, no distorted voices, no running the computer all the time, no error messages, no advertisements.

Ooma is just a phone equal to or better than any land line I have ever used, and what a pleasure that is. You quickly forget the original high cost.

Ooma is a gamble that I also took, unit is set to be delivered tomorrow (buydotcom $230). I will be keeping my magicjack (prepaid another year), but I just don't have time anymore to figure it out, chat with tech support, set up a thin client, etc., and the wife is embarassed to use it. Yes, the ooma is more expensive, with a greater potential to lose if the company goes under, but I figure I'll breakeven (compared to ATT) in 7 months.
