Desktop Shortcut From Hell

Post by Uncle Spellbinder »

Does anyone know of a way to stop MagicJack from adding a short cut to the desktop each time I start my computer? VERY annoying.

Thanks in advance.

You can use Magicblock or run it as a service. You find the answers to both here in the forum.

IF you are renaming the shortcut on your desktop ( I was) it will make a NEW ONE when you reboot ( it was for me). So I left it alone and now it is the only one there in the same location I moved it to on my desktop.
Hope this helps.

Create a shortcut to

Code: Select all

"C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe" /foreground /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot "G:\magicJack"
for Vista or

Code: Select all

"C:\Documents And Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe" /foreground /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot "G:\magicJack"
for XP.

Replace Your User Name with the appropriate words, and replace the capital G at the end with the correct drive letter of your magicJack. Include all quotation marks.

Only use this shortcut to start magicJack; delete the default shortcut.
If the old shortcut is in your Startup folder, remove it.
