New message has arrived - how do you know?

Post by pbishop »

The current VOIP system gives me an intermittant dial tone when I have voice mail messages, so I can tell that I have messages when I pick up the phone without having to dial anything. Does MJ have something like that, or do you have to dial into VM to find out if you have messages? Just to be clear, when I've been out to dinner and I come home I'd like to be able to pick up my phone and press the "ON" button and hear some kind of different dial tone that tells me that I have a message. Can MJ do this (or something like it)?

It emails the voice msg to you. But, that's been unreliable over the past 4-5 weeks.

I thought it used to light up the "vmail" button on the softphone (when there was new voice mail). But, I just left myself a message and it didn't change color.

Yes I also noticed that softphone voice mail button no longer lights up. Hopefully it will be fixed with next update in a week or so. If you ever noticed all of the updates are always dated on the 22nd of every month.

Ok, so what I'm hearing is that there is no way to tell that you have a message without either getting on your computer or logging into voice mail.

Unfortunately...Yes. However, I have seen some posts from users that say they do get the stutter tone (this is what triggers the flahsing light on the phone). I remember that the one person had DECT 6.0 phones so that may be a factor.

the light on the softphone does light up but for some reason it takes a while to realize there is a voicemail.

If you hover your mouse over the voicemail button it will say how many messages.

I never get a stutter tone and the light never flashes.

I always get an e-mail notifying me of new voicemail. However, "vmail" never lights up on the softphone and I never get a stutter dial-tone.

It takes forever somtimes for me to get the email with the voicemail. Sometimes i check for voicemails like every other day OR I just wait for the person to call back again :D

I would like to see the option to disable the VM all together.

Optionally, I would be OK if MJ would pick up after the 5th ring instead of the 4th, so I could set my VM to pick up and answer the call.

This is what I've been waiting for, for a looong time. Would be nice just to be able to turn off MJ's VM. My DECT phone system has VM as well as my GC.
