Broken Voice when listening
Constantly get garbled talk when listening to incoming calls. Caller hears me ok, but their conversation is always broken while I listen.
Have done the upgrade thing with no results. Also have unplugged/plugged the MJ back in as suggested. Have tried 3 different phones and a different USB port. Problem persists.
Problem continues. Any suggestions?

Has anything changed, like an anti-virus upgrade? Maybe disable your AV. And/or go into task manager, right click the magicjack.exe process, and set the priority to High.cougar11211 wrote:1 last comment. Been using MJ for almost 7 months now. This problem just started recently.
Also check if your bandwidth is what you think it should be at speedtest.net.
Check whether your network is in good condition concerning VOIP capability:

If you're connected to your router wirelessly, use a wired connection to see if it gets better. (More than a few people have found wireless to degrade MJ's performance.). Maybe some interference recently started.

I'm having the same problem and the problem only occurs on incoming calls. The caller can hear my voice just fine but the incoming voice is garbled and distorted and most times I can't even understand what the other party is saying. If I call them back (outgoing call) the problems is gone. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Below is some details about my connection and setup.
Win XP
Athlon X2 4400
1GB RAM
Wired directly to router (WRT54GS running DD-WRT)
AT&T DSL Lite

Has to be MJ
My internet connection
15 meg down by 3 meg up
Voip test show I should have excellent bandwidth
With the pc connected directly to the modem I get choppy choppy choppy voices....
Used for months without a problem....
My opinion.....MJ is going cheap and overloading one of there proxy servers

So are we guessing the problem is with one of the servers? I'm in Atlanta. What about everyone else having problems?wipeout97 wrote:Has to be MJ

broken incoming audio here too (block pop up phone)
I'm also in Atlanta, w/Comcast Cable, and I've check my speed and it hasn't changed, and I've had Magic Jack for several months, working fine, and just last week, around the end of October, I started having the problem of broken audio on the incoming side, and have tried everything from completely uninstalling, cleaning the registry, and all of the other usual tricks. I've even shut everything non-essential down on my PC, including my Mcafee Virus scan temporarily, and still the same problem.
I've had the issues rarely in the past, but it's consistent now.
Has anyone tried switching Proxy servers with any success? Read about it here. http://magicjackhacks.blogspot.com/
I did find this handy free tool that keeps the soft phone from popping up everytime you make a call or receive a call.

Re: broken incoming audio here too (block pop up phone)
The proxy server is just a control connection. The voice traffic occurs on vms1.{city}.talk4free.com. This server (name or IP) may be passed to the client by the proxy. It may be tied to the proxy's city name.midatl wrote:Has anyone tried switching Proxy servers with any success? Read about it here. http://magicjackhacks.blogspot.com/
And, it appears MJ doesn't resolve hostnames any longer. Putting the server name in the host file (with the IP of a different server) doesn't seem to do anything.
At least, it hasn't for me the past 24 hours. If someone experiences something different, please post.

anyone having this problem should check out this post I just made: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/fix- ... t3471.html
Yes, I run BT on occasions, but I don't believe that to be the problem. I have done a complete restart (modem, router, PC) and don't load my BT client and the problem still exists. I have a dynamic IP address. In addition to that the problem only exists on incoming calls not outgoing. Over the last couple of days the problem does seem to better though.wipeout97 wrote:anyone having this problem should check out this post I just made: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/fix- ... t3471.html

wipeout,
I tried you host file fix, restarted mj and then restarted my PC, modem and router, and still little to no change.
Thanks for trying though.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

i live in atlanta as well .... i noticed exactly the same thing .....
the problems began at the end of October ....
i complained about the issue, we went through many procedures to fix the problem..... they even sent me a new magicjack .....i still have the problem
i believe that magicjack is having some systemic problem that they are unwilling to admit ......

I'm in Atlanta too and having the same issues. I haven't spoke with Tech Support yet, but I guess I need to start harassing them to get a solution. I've done most things the the forum has suggested, QOS, high priority in task manager, powered USB hub, etc. Some calls are great; others not so much.theav8r wrote:i live in atlanta as well .... i noticed exactly the same thing .....
