Hello,
I have sporadic problems with MJ. sometimes it shows up as drive letters as it should, and sometimes it doesn't... and sometimes the drive letters are there, but no files exist when you click on it. And sometimes it works perfect for a day or two.
Seems like I'm having sporadic USB issues with mass storage devices... But all of my other USB devices are working properly.
I've tried a powered usb hub too and get the same sporadic results.
Is this a Windows XP/hardware problem.... or a magicjack design issue??

Re: MJ and USB issues
Try it without the short cable they provide with the device. I've heard a lot of people say that cable is no good. When I move my unit around, it often disconnects. There seems to be a lot of play in the connection between the unit and that short cable.
If you use the smartphone exclusively with a headset, there's a sticky in the "hacks" section about how to run MJ without the USB device. I've been using that and it works fine (except it seems to lose the 911 address).

I had various USB issues with my MJ including not enough available power for my devices, USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices on the same buss interactions, not enough USB bandwidth for everything, mechanical connector and extension cable problems, etc. These were all solved by performing the mods to run Magicjack.exe (without the dongle) completely from my system drive.
I followed this with an installation of Prio to automatically set the Magicjack.exe priority to Realtime, a USB headset for feedback/audio quality issues and finally a cheap D-Link router with QoS to boost VOIP packet priority and I've finally got a reliable MJ system with adequate audio quality. I also made the mod to change skins so that my MJ GUI isn't so intrusive and irritating.
A plus is that MJ now can't cram "updates" down my throat which screw the system up.
