headset recommendations

Post by pamrider »

I am wondering about a better headset with mike. I am looking for under $30. I am on Vista with WiFi. I prefer plugin over USB.

Hi pamrider. Share with us if you find something acceptable.

I've never found anything worth keeping in that price range.

Does your computer support bluetooth?

If so I would recommend a bluetooth headset like one used on cellphones

Excellent Suggestion Mr. LaserJobs.

AND - Use a Motorola D200 dongle. They will even do stereo and they are plug-n-play, no software required, just plug it in and you are off to the races. It is also a 100 foot range unit and will only be limited by the range of your BT headset.

I have played with a lot of bluetooth dongles (hmmm) and at best they are a pain in the rump to get and keep working correctly. The D200 hundred is just for audio and it has never given me one moment of trouble or that pain I mentioned about other units. And get this it is a little cheaper than most regular bluetooth (do everything) dongles.

set up

Geo,

So you are saying the BT D200 dongle and a cell phone type
BT headset?

Are you using that set up?

Thanks!

I use a Logitech USB Headset 350 and it works better than everything else I've tried (built in, plugin headset, Jabra BT, etc).

It hurts my ears after a while though because the head spring mashes the cups against the ears too hard.

Yes Sir, that is exactly what I am recommending. You will love it!

I only use it on occasion, I am forever forgetting to charge my BT headset. I use my Panasonic DECT 6 cordless phone most of the time.

Headset 24.88 Walmart

Post by magicjackjoe »

I bought a Cyber Acoustics Computer Mono USB Headset from Walmart for 24.88. Works good. No complaints.
What you think of me is none of my business.

Is that wired or USB bluetooth dongle (wireless). I would think most of the wired headset will work great.

I have once or twice used my Logitech Video Cam (built in microphone) with my desk top speakers and that work very well also.

I have been so spoiled by wireless that the thought of be tethered with a cable is something I have difficulty dealing with these days.

Goof luck with your new Cyber system.

Logitech

Post by bukzin »

I just got a nice set-up. Its a behind the head type
from Logitech (I think the model number is A 5572A)

Here are photos and a review http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3968

Handy because you can use either the 2.5mm (AKA 1/8th inch) plugs
(one for the speakers, one for the mic) or use the included USB adaptor.

Seem to work well with MJ.

Anyone use this type set-up in a internet cafe?
Are some computer blocking the MJ software?

Fount this neat little handset at Fry's, here is a link direct to the company online store, same price as Fry's. Works fantastic, especially since I am dongleless. http://store.ipevo.com/IPEVO-ST4RT-Univ ... BP3BZ4.htm
