Help Please (outgoing calls)
This is going to be very long so I might as well post a copy of the email I sent to Magic Jack:
Dear Dan,
Hi Dan, I really love your product, it serves its purpose well, I am
living here in the Philippines along with my kids, and my wife is working
at the US, it bridges the gap between us. And for that I am very grateful.
So grateful, that I bought 3 new units from your website, and got it
shipped to my wife in California. And what she did is that she shipped it
to me as soon as she got the package from you.
I installed it here in my home, I have 3 computers here, one at the
office, one at my children's room and one at my bedroom.
Now, I found a bit of a problem in using the magic jack, in which I did
not encounter in my old MJ. All the 2 units that I bought are having
problems making outgoing calls, so what I did was report it to you tech
support online, but after almost days of editing via the regedit, changing
of DNS numbers, still I wasn't able to make calls, incoming calls are ok
however.
I was even transfered to higher level of tech support for over a couple of
time or more...
It gave me sleepless nights, for over 2 nights, agonizing on what I did
wrong, I even tried formatting 3 of my computers for me to isolate the
problem, but after a very clean install, the problem persists.
I started to call upon my techie guys here in the Philippines, I myself is
good at computers but I gave up knowing that it MIGHT be more technical
than I thought.
They started to asked me to restart the modem, which I did, but it did not
help either. And they checked all my connections which are all ok. Do
remember that my old MJ is still working.
In order for me to isolate the problem, I decided to visit my brother in
law who lives a few blocks away from me, but we both have the same DSL
provider PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone), 2 of the magicjacks
also cannot make calls, but the old magic jack was working as well on that
computer.
Then I realized, my old magic jack wasn't ACTIVATED here at home, it was
activated in a different DSL provider (DIGITEL), for me to cement my
theory, I decided to ACTIVATE my remaining magic jack (3rd unit) but
instead of doing so here at home, I decided to do it outside, in a friends
house who uses DIGITEL DSL, I was able to activate the unit, but after
activation, it too wasn't able to make outgoing calls. But on that
computer, the 2 magic jacks before where working PERFECTLY.
Here is my analysis Dan, in which I would really need your help, if a
customer of your product bought a unit from you, and activated it here in
the Philippines via the PLDT or DIGITEL, the providers are now capable of
blocking ALL OUTGOING calls, i understand that they may lose a lot of
money if they do this, but it would sent a bad precedent to you and your
product.
The last magic jack that I activated in DIGITEL is working perfectly in
all my computers here at home, but I am stuck with the 2 units that I
activated here in PLDT, I am seeking your help now, on what is the best
way for me to do, I inquired to DHL on how much it would cost me to send
it back to you, they told me it would cost me 2 NEW magicjacks already.
The numbers of the problematic magic jacks that I wasn't able to use after
activation are 909 2370765 and 909 2370767, I have no plans or returning
them sir, all I need is to have these accounts reset, for me to activate
it in a different DSL provider so that I can use it here in my home.
Please help me sir. I am stuck with 2 extra magic jacks that wont make
outgoing calls, oh and to also try out my theory of changing its numbers
via DIGITEL line, I did that as well, but it did not work here in my house
as well. Meaning the ID of the 2 magic jack is already in the blocked list
of outgoing calls of PLDT.
Thank you,
Benedict Evangelista

I did try that in another DSL provider at that, but I guess my current DSL provider already has the ID of my 2 magc jacks, i was able to change its number but it still didn't work, i can't even call my own number to check upon my voice mail...

Okay, here's what happen to a friend of my when he went to Colombia with his MagicJack.
He purchased two MagicJacks. One he activated here in New York City, and the other he activated it in Colombia.
The one Activated in NYC works great, sending and receiving calls, but the one he activated in Colombia can not call out but could receive calls.
So.. I would think, if someone tries to activate their MJ outside the the USA, they will have this problems, because the MJ he activated in NYC works perfectly.

Not necessarily sir, I have been using magic jacks for some time now (1st unit), but maybe after the telecommunication companies here learned that they are losing a lot of money to such apparatus, they found a way to block all outgoing calls, that is why I am pleading my case to Magic jack, but up to now, it seems I would end up with a couple of bricked units...rickiev wrote:Okay, here's what happen to a friend of my when he went to Colombia with his MagicJack.

Thank you sir,JohnnyFreightTRAIN wrote:That's terrible! I hope you get your problem resolved.
Activation works fine from over here in Canada, TELUS high speed internet (dsl).
I really hope someone from Magicjack can read the problems raised in this forum, still waiting for them to answer back.
Cheers...!
