Scheduled reboot

Hi,
On a TC (T5700 specifically), is there a way to schedule a reboot, say every 12 or 24 hrs? I've searched but no avail. I have one TC for the MJ, a second TC I'm playing with and it's currently set up with webcams to post pictures to the web when there's any movement in the scene. Problem is the program or the TC hangs after a few hours. When we're away, I'd like to be able to restart the TC and webcam program. I'd need the scheduled restart to ignore any errors from programs? If not, maybe I'll plug the TC power adapter into a timer? It shouldn't hurt the TC and it'll reboot up fresh everytime?

Control panel -- scheduled tasks. Add new task.

Run: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe /r /t 01

Start in: C:\WINDOWS\system32

Hi thanks for the tip.
Is there a special add-in for XPe to add a module for Task Scheduler? In the "S's" on the control panel, I have Scanners and Cameras, Sounds and Audio Devices and System. But no "Schedule Task".

I'm pretty sure I have the latest XPe SP2 loaded.

It's in the T5710's control panel, I'm suprised its not in the T5700, maybe it in your admin tools folder...just a suggestion.

Has anyone else been able to download ShutDownOne Home that newtoncd mentions from dimaware at this link? http://www.dimaware.com/downloads/

I click on the download, it brings up the "save" dialog, but it never downloads anything.

Just curious...

Try increasing your ramdrive, commit and reboot. See if that fixes it as I had that issue once and it was because I didn't have a large enough ram disk.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm at work on a regular desktop PC.

The manual for shutdown pro downloads fine - but the home version program doesn't .

Oh, well, I'll try from home and let you know.

You most likely want to add /f to the options so that any stubborn processes will shutdown.

For those missing a task scheduler, you can use a free alternative called pycron. I just installed it as I noticed one of my TC's was missing the task scheduler.

It's basically a Windows port of the popular cron from the Linux/BSD world. It will install as a service, so you don't have to worry about running it manually.

Cron is actually a lot more powerful than the Windows Task scheduler, but takes a little getting use to.

I just started using Pycron as recommended since my HP T5700 does not have scheduled tasks. However, I cannot get Pycron to shutdown. Would you please provide me a sample what you put in Task Command and Parameters? Thank you. Beth.

Hi,

I followed the instruction given by Pycron as followed. Do I need to click on start button under task scheduler?

"Then click Start->Run->services.msc (hit enter)

Scroll down to and highlight Task Scheduler->right click->Properties->Toggle to Manual->hit Stop->then Apply->OK

Then scroll up to Python Cron Service->highlight->right click->Properties->Toggle to Automatic->Apply->OK"

Does anyone currently use Pycron with great success? I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I didn't set up correctly. Under Task Command, I browsed to C:\Windows\system32\shutdown.exe but I left parameters alone. This might be where the problem is. Does anyone know what to put in parameters field? Thanks in advance for your help. Beth
