When my MJ is plugged directly into the computer none of the other USB ports work. If I unplug the MJ plug in the other devices then plug in the MJ everything works fine.
Sounds like your USB controller may not be able to provide enough power to all the USB hardware. Some other posts suggest using an AC powered USB hub to eliminate these sorts of problems.
