Find your mjusbsp folder (in your "profile\application settings" folder). Right click on magicjackloader.exe, and choose Properties, and the Version tab. It will tell you the version.

Mine is 1.80.4512.3155

You cannot - magicJack does not publish this information ahead of time. Nor do they making finding version numbers easy.

The version az2008 mentioned is the version for the magicjackloader.exe. Obviously each of those DLL's/exe's will have different version numbers. You probably should look at the version for the magicjack.exe rather than the loader though (or perhaps compare all of them), as it is possible for one to change and not the others.

The version number can be found if you fire up regedit, and browse down to:

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\talk4free\USB Softphone\usd
it'll show something like:

Code: Select all

20080822000001
This is the version that they pass encrypted to their provisioning servers during startup.

Thanks. I added that to my notes. I got the "loader" version number from another post. In the future I'll refer to both methods.

Hey Mark,

I go by the version number of the upgrade itself, it is kind of universal in the sense that if you don't load the upgrade and you just right click and do properties you will get the version number of the upgrade itself. I you go wondering thru the MJ directory after upgrading you end up with several different versions number including some that match the upgrade file. If you then add numbers found in the registry well my little pea sized brain can't make any sense out of four or five different version numbers. So when talking with others the version number of the upgrade is always unique if you use the one from the upgrade file itself.

My two cents...

PS - I am currently running 1.80.4663.3272 and so far so good albeit about the only thing I have noticed is it is smaller (file size) some cosmetic changes in the softphone and I don't get seven digit dialing like some say they now have with this update (???).

George, my TC is trying to update the MJ now and seems to be having "issues". :o

Looking at C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe my version is 1.80.466.3 but I can't find one with the extra 3272 you show.

Have I not received the update yet, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks :)

ps: just checked, that is the version of my magicJackLoader.exe - 1.80.4663.3272

If the loader is saying "3272" you have the update. You can go down load the Upgrade manually right click on it do properties > version or details and it will tell you the version of the upgrade. Once you have the correct on sitting on your desktop just execute it and it will install and correct any errors if the previous install was interrupted.
