Has anyone had better luck that I have trying use MJ for direct or indirect incoming faxes?
I have been experimenting with have my MJ forward calls to different efax providers. What I have found is a lack of reliability, not necessary because of MJ. I have a paid eFax service that I have used for years with my business.
If I use my stand alone fax machine to sent a fax to my MJ number which forwards the Fax call to my business efax number the majority of times the fax only partially comes through. Some times I get a line noise message.
If I use my fax machine to send a FAX to:
1) My business efax # - no problem
2) My K7.com efax # - no problem
3) My MJ number forwarding it to my business efax # - part of the page makes it the rest of the page is blank.
If I use faxzero.com to send a FAX from a pdf file to:
1) My business efax # - no problem
2) My K7.com efax # - no problem
3) My MJ number forwarding it to my business efax # - part of the page makes it the rest of the page is blank.
Using my fax machine connected to my MJ to send a FAX to my My business efax # - - part of the page makes it the rest of the page is blank.
What seems to happen, the first 2-3 inches of the page goes through then the next 1-2 inches look like the last line of data is repeated so that all you get are vertical lines and the rest of page does not print.
I could blame my VOIP or cable provider for my machine reporting line noise and that could be a problem sometimes but sending the pdf via a fax service takes my VOIP or cable provider totally out of the loop.
It looks like the MJ system not just the MJ adapter has poor fax reliability.
I forgot to mention my goal was to have my MJ forward my incoming FAX calls to a free fax service and eliminate my paid service. My use of the fax services is so low it seemed like the much less expansive MJ would be a good option. That way I could use the same MJ number for my incoming faxes if the free fax service went away.
Forwarding a FAX thrrough my MJ number, what I have found

Slow down fax to 9600
Thanks for the suggestion. The only problem is other people sending faxes to me. If their machine is not set a 9600 there will be a problem in my getting their faxes. I think most machines try to run at 14400. If the auto-speed change does not work with MJ for some reason, could be that my cable line causing a delay, that could cause another issue. The other thing to consider is that I did try and send a fax from a efax service with the same problem.

Faxzero.com works
If you go to faxzero.com you can send 2 faxes a day/email address by uploading the fax as a pdf file. I think they accept doc also. They do send a full page add cover page with your document. But it is free.
Another resource to test incoming fax is HP's free faxback service. You don't need an HP machine to use it-I tested my new Canon AIO printer via MJ and it works fine at 14.4k
