Does MJ work in hibernate or stand by mode?

Post by ClarasMommy »

I keep googling and get mixed answers. Some websites say MJ works in hibernate mode and others say it doesn't. (It turns off when my computer goes into hibernate).. but maybe it shouldn't?
Does it or not?
I'd like to power down my computer in someway, during the day.
Will a screen saver coming on make MJ turn off? What are the best power settings for keeping MJ on all day? I have an XP..
Should everything be set to "never?" in the power options in the control panel?

Also, is there a way to get MJ to turn on, after its turned off with out having to plug it in and out of the usb port? What I've been doing is clicking the upgrade.exe file to boot my MJ when it turns off after my computer hibernates.

Any info would be great.

No it does not.. sorry  Others have overcome that , if you do a search you will find remedies like "ThinClient" and spare PCs running to use it, but no.. It will not run in Sleep or Hibenate..

As far as starting it back up, you might try creating a shortcut like the one below. Not sure if it will work or not, but give it a try.

For XP it should look something like
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot X:\magicJack

For Vista it should look something like
C:\users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot X:\magicJack

Where X is the drive letter of your MJ Flash drive (not the MJ virtual CD ROM drive)

i hate to state the obvious but...
even if your PC is off, calls go to voicemail, so when you come home you can check your voicemail to see who called.
also they usually email the voicemail to you, so you could have the pc off and if someone called and left a message, it could be forwarded to your work pc..

i only have the thing on when i want to make a call. people leave messages and i call them back later.
