First off I would like to thank everyone for all of the help.

Here's the deal. I noticed in another post on this type of subject az2008 mentioned something about firewalls and DMZ (What the heck is a DMZ?!?!?!?)

So I went to my Linksys basic setup site and disabled the firewall and used the echo number given to test.

SUCCESS!!!!! If I disable the firewall on my modem\router I have no more cutoff phone calls. Right On!!!!!!

I still have choppy calls. Very little irritation at this point.

I am worried about leaving the firewall off though. Will this be a problem? I still have the windows firewall and I still use the WAP2-personal encryption.

Also, is the DMZ area an option?

Right now I leave the firewall enabled and disable it when using the phone.

If you use a software firewall it should be ok.

This seems to be something about Linksys routers (or firmware). It's strange because it doesn't affect everyone using a Linksys router. (If it did, we'd hear *a lot* more about this.). Among the few who've been affected, some flashed their router to Tomato (or DD-WRT) and fixed the problem went away. Indicating it's a factory firmware problem.

The recent topic about infinite phone ringing seems to be related. Both Jarm and Jayhawk use Linksys routers. Disabling the router fixed the problem.

You mentioned choppy voice. In that case you're probably going to want to flash a router to Tomato in order to use its QoS features. If that's the case, then you'll have to replace your combo modem/router with individual modem and router components. And, after flashing, the firewall problem will go away (based upon others' experience). You can use your router as a firewall.
