MAJIC JACK on WINDOWS VISTA + SONY VAIO

Post by niravmota »

Hi Team,

I have 2 laptops, 1 SONY VAIO CR23 and 1 HP. Using the same internet connection I successfully use HP laptop with MJ. However, whenever I logon to VISTA laptop and try and connect MJ, it just hangs.

I talked with support team and they told me that my internet connection wasn't fast enough, which is bullshit, since my HP works seamlessly with same ISP. Kindly help urgently.

Best Regards,

Where does it hang? On installation?

I may have found something useful?

I have both an XP PC and a vista PC, both share the same acess thru a wireless router.

MJ works well on the XP even off a USB hub

MagicJack did work on the Vista Laptop, but for some reason it quit working, I haven't used it for about two months, and tried it today with troubles.

Problem: error 3 displayed in the MJ window. If i select menu and then help, I get another MJ window saying "error opening URL: application not found"

After trying a lot of things, I built in a new user in the vista laptop, pulled the MJ dongle, logged out, and back into the new virgin users account.
I plug the MJ dongle back in, and everything loads and works well.

I then pull the dongle, go back to my normal user account, plug the dongle back in and identical trouble is back.

Seems there's some trace of a file or maybe something in regedit that MJ is choking on, and doesn't know what to do with, AND it appears to have something to do with the user's profile.

I'm over my head at this point, but it's obvious it's not a firewall, a port 5060 5070, or any of that other hog wash I find as possible troubles in the MJ FAQ.

I remember a few applications that went looking for a certain file, as part of the install process, if it was present, it aborted the install or ran into trouble.
