Anyone used Linksys PAP2T or version 2 succesfully ?

Post by marinemaster »

Hi,

This is in continuation of my earlier post about version 1 and version 2. Has anybody used succesfully the Linksys PAP2T which I believe is version 2 succesfully with mj ?
I understand the **** that it enters. Is there any other issue?
From what I read version 1 works good but version 2 not really. I would like owner opinion on version 2.

Thanks
Chris

v2 only accepts numbers 0-9 and letters a-d in the user ID field.
Your MJ user ID is Exxx01 (xxx - is your phone number) thus you can't set your user ID w/o hacking the software.
There are also other issues like fix IP address that you can't get rid off, and more. So far there is no solution that works.

I see, so how did you get around the settings that do not work correctly, if you can share?

Thanks

I don't know what you mean about settings that do not work correctly with a pap2t. Been using one for months right out of the box.

I don't think that the PAP2T is the same as the PAP2 V2.. V2 wont accept alpha characters in the settings for the Auth ID :( as arcadia2uk has pointed out. I have one of those bricks here waiting for someone to remedy the situation.. Dogface05 on dsl reports is supposedly coming up with the solution.

On Linksys website it shows Version 1 and Version 2. So to me it seems that Version 1 was PAP2 and Version 2 is PAP2T. with a T

The firmware of version 1 on Linksys site is up to PAP2 3.1.22-LS

The firmware for version 2 to there is none, so whatever comes with it.

I guess I am still confused which is what.....

PAP2 v1/PAP2T are completely different from V2
All the ESS based adapters, including the original PAP2, RT31P2/WRT54GP2, and the newer PAP2T and SPA2102/3102, continue using a proprietary OS from Green Hill Software,
while v2 is TI based and running Linux
Only the TI based adapters like the PAP2v2, RTP300 and WRTP54G, use Linux.
and for v1 and PAP2T, they use different firmware and can't crossflash because PAP2T has more flash.

I went to above link and read over and over could not understand what needed to do. I tried to find out how to write file to pap2t. Because I changed line 1 information to my sipinfo. But I don't know how to write to my pap2t which it is connected to my linksys WRT54G2 router. Please help to instruct or give example how to do. Thank for advance...

Write to PAP2T

Godragonking,

At the bottom of each configuration page there is a "Save Settings" choice. Click on it to save whatever changes you've made.
