I followed the instructions under recommended install for Windows 7 and magicjack starts up but never connects, failing with an error 9. Uninstalled antivirus to test (no change though it worked fine with Norton internet security 2009 under Vista 64-bit) and made sure any security was disabled.
Did all the standard - upgraded, unplugged, replugged, re-registered, etc.
Any thoughts???

Re: Installed under Windows 7 and getting network err (error
The only time I've seen an error 9 was Dec. 21 when I got the "Go Luck Yourself" upgrade. I run without the dongle, which involves making a copy of the mjusbsp directlry (like the Win 7 instructions). I couldn't get rid of the error 9 until I plugged in my dongle, started MJ the real way, let it upgrade, and then go through the "dongleless" instructions again (copying the mjusbsp directory again, etc.).kosherham51 wrote:I followed the instructions under recommended install for Windows 7 and magicjack starts up but never connects, failing with an error 9.
I've seen a couple people post that they got an upgrade over the past couple days. So, maybe you're getting hit with an upgrade and need to do the Win 7 instructions again?
FWIW: You might not even see the upgrade occur. A couple days after the Dec. 21 upgrade I got up one morning and saw error 9 again. I didn't see anything about an upgrade (although a few people said they saw another one). I did the dongless instructions again, and was back to error-free operation.
I think anyone doing the Win 7 thing should automatically go back to the regular MJ operation if they see error 9. Run that way for awhile, then redo the Win 7 instructions. That's the same advice for anyone running dongleless.
