In response to a post I was told that upgrading the firmware of my old sunrocket spa-2102 was safe; as long as I do not do a factor reset I would not be locked out of the unit. As I was doing some reading on upgrading the firmware I came across a post where someone upgraded their firmware on the old sunrocket spa-2102 and accidentally did do a factory reset and was locked out. However, he was able to get back into the unit by using the live CD unlocking tool for the old sunrocket spa-2102 even with the firmware update.
The live CD will boot the computer into a version of Linux and acts as the provisioning server of the old sunrocket service. The person stated that it took a bit longer but he was able to log back into the unit and was up and running again with the latest firmware. I thought this might be of some use to someone who is not aware of the live CD. The live CD resets the unit back to admin/qwe%zxc5 As always, anything you do with any device is at your risk and I do not take responsibility for creating paper weights. I have not used the live CD, but if you can't get back in after a factory reset, what do you have to lose?
The live CD is stored on sourceforge and the link is http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sour ... locker.iso
Unlocking Sunrocket SPA-2102

You only want to do this if you are locked out of the ATA. If you can hook the ATA directly to a computer and know the login and passwords then you work directly from computer to ATA. If you are going to work on the ATA settings and have it in a live network, then unplug your magicjack because you do not want the dongle to be registered with the magicjack servers and have your ATA to register at the same time.mcbelisle wrote:will this help if i can't fnd the new ip address of the device?
