I have no voicemail access *Deleted Greeting*

Post by icebluebox »

Hi, may be someone can advise me, if they had this happen to them.
I already chatted with magicjack support for probably 12hours, what a bunch (beep)ing.... $#%$#%

I explained to them I erased my personal greeting for my voicemail, recording instead may be 2 seconds of dead space.
Thinking may be I would get back the factory default greeting.

But instead I screwed myself.
Now I can not access voicemail from outside line or through the vmail button.
I get a quick busy signal and disconnected right away.
No chance to enter the *1234 password.

I asked them to call my # and see for themselves but they would not.

thanks for reading and any possible advice.
The last time I chatted with magicjack support the person told me they will speak with the engineers on my request, and get back to me of course they will not do a dam thing about it.

They had me do their 3 hour scripts every time I chatted with someone New, (probably 10 different dummies)even when they escalated the call. (like a merry go round with their idiotic buffoon coworkers.
I would tell them I did that already but still made me do it, turn off firewall, turn on firewall, use regedit to delete their magicjack values, run the upgrade, disconnect the usb cable, reconnect the usb cable, restart the magicjack, use a different usb port.
They (bleeped) up my system I had to reformat the magicjack to get it working again, because of the 6 times they asked me to upgrade even when I specifically told them I will not.
WHY ARE THEY SO STUPID, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD THINK IT'S A HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEM, WHEN ALL ELSE WORKS CORRECT, BESIDES VOICEMAIL WHICH IS ON THEIR SERVER OR whatever THEIR END.
I dread magicjack support, by far the worse support I had to deal with.

Ask them to reset your voicemail.

I did the same thing: deleted my voicemail prompts (because my recording kept adding itself on to the default prompt, rather than replacing it). Six hours on tech chat so far. I thought they were pretty good, but no fix so far. A promise of 64-hours engineering response. But that is the second time they promised that this week.

Yes, they did reset the voicemail, to no avail. Also removed all Magicjackness in a variety of ways, from Device Manager, Regedit, and shutting down my router and computer and wiping everything (that they could) on their end.

I think the particular Magicjack is tightly associated with its account, so a new account can't be made to associate with it. Otherwise they'd have done that. I asked them to.

It is annoying that they can't call my phone number, and hear it disconnect after four rings. But they generally seemed to believe what I told them was happening.

The worst part of the tech chat is that they don't seem to read the previous chats. Ever. So I have to go through many similar steps each time I re-connect with them. Also there can be really long lags between when they respond; I suspect they are each dealing with many customers at once.

That's so true.

Hey ilader, I'm glad there is someone else in the same boat with me.
Sorry it had to me you.
You hit the nail on the head just about everything you said I feel the same way, except that magicjack is doing a good job, Most customer agents I encountered were at least friendly except 2 a-holes.

They did supposedly reset my voicemail, that's why I am suppose to use the default password again when trying to access voicemail.

I bet if they changed my phone number to a different one, it would be fixed, I told them to do it for me off the books.
But they said they can not and I will not use up one of my free chances to change the phone number from the website, since this is something they should have planned for "someone deleting the voicemail greeting message with silence".

In a small way it is a little good that the voicemail doesn't pick up on the 3rd ring, now I can get my answering machine to pick up on the 4th ring. The only problem I have really is if the internet connection is down, the person who is calling won't be redirected to voicemail. "BTW after 4 rings the caller just gets disconnected with the busy signal"
So I still would like this fixed.

Seems simple, but magicjack personnel don't give a crap, they're just trying to kill 8 hours before they can go home, they probably get paid close to zero.

If I get somewhere I will post. I hope others will chime in also.

Ok, I emailed [email protected] and spoke with 2 different techs under that email address.
Marvin and Roderick.
Marvin and Roderick were trying to get me to do a bunch of nonsense in the beginning like upgrade magicjack, not to use the usb extension cord......
But after I explained that this has to be a problem on their end.
Marvin understood and made some changes and asked me to restart the magicjack. From that point it was working great.
I don't know what he did, he would not tell me.
Good Luck to anyone who experiences this problem or similar.
May be Marvin can help you.

I had a similar problem as well.

Was on chat support with one rep who couldn't figure it out. Got escalated to another rep, and she was able to fix it.

I asked her to tell me what we should tell other reps in the future should this happen again, and she said to tell them to "refresh your voicemail connection." ... hope that saves time for some of you.
