poor reception

my usb port does not allow me to plug magic jack diretly into my home pc my reception is poor? any suggestions

Reception???????? Havent a clue what you mean by reception..
And why can't you plug your MJ into your USB port? Did you try using the USB extension cable MJ included?

yes i did but the instructions stated that it would be better to go directlly to pc i did go through the extention...still the problem?

I still dont know what you mean by reception. Do you mean the quality of a call?
IF the only way you can use the MJ is with the extension, then use it...

yeah i meant quality of call my callers voices go in and out.

I think you're referring to what it says on the label on the back of my MJ: "DO NOT PLUG INTO HUB - Plug directly into any USB port on your computer". They don't mean that you can't use the extension cord to plug the MJ into your computer (otherwise they wouldn't have provided it). Even the advice not to plug into a hub is faulty since a powered hub is okay (in fact, it can sometimes help), but you shouldn't use an unpowered one.

still the problem we are at ground 0 you havent said anything...i get poor sound quality...do you have any solutions for my poor sound quality on my magic jack?

See the wiki FAQ for the topic "choppy/garbled voice." You said the voice goes in and out. I don't know if you're describing that, or something else.

If it's something else, and if you're using a handset, I would try removing the handset and see if the same thing happens when making calls with the softphone and a headset.

If it does, then I'd try changing your proxy (also described on the wiki FAQ).
