My Lady Friend Says No To Dongle!
I live in Washington state and my phone is really sounding worse all the time . My lady friend hates it and refuses to talk to me when I use MJ. So, I'd really like to introduce her to my dongle but she's having none of it until I get a better sounding phone. So MJ is effecting my love life now and I gotta switch.
You're starting to remind me of the person who says "I'm leaving" and after a few steps, turns and says "really, I'm leaving." And, when reaching the door, "I'm not kidding, I'm really leaving.... isn't someone going to stop me?"

Please refer to any post where I said Ooma needs a phone line to work.saxman wrote:Like the bit about Ooma needing the phone line to work.
You keep making that statement, ignoring what's been said: Ooma uses (or used to use) a customer's landline (when present) to terminate calls for other Ooma customers.

I'm not going to go dig it out but you said Ooma needs a landline to work. If you cant remember saying that two days ago., You need help. We went back and forth on that with you insistting the need of a landline. I finally emailed the company just to confirm what I l already knew. Now I'm done wasting my time playing games with you. If you don't like or trust Ooma-great-who cares? This conversation is over.
Anyone who followed that thread knows that you're either lying or didn't understand what you were reading.saxman wrote:I'm not going to go dig it out but you said Ooma needs a landline to work. That's why you can't produce a post where I said what you say I did.

Are you for real?????
I wouldn't count my chickens before they are hatched. Your poor voice quality could be due to your being homed to an overcrowded MJ proxy server or due to overcrowding in your segment of your ISP's network. You won't be able to gather enough information to diagnose the problem until your ooma and your MJ are sitting side by side.
I don't have any other problems with my isp. The downloads are fast and when I run the test for my voip it says it's as good as being next door. This is definetly due to the servers being overloaded and Mj not keeping up with the amount of new customers their hooking up. Like I said, it was pretty good for a long time and others have noticed a recent drop off in call quality as well so, I don't think the problems on my end at all. I have a few friends in the area also having audio problems with it.
So unless it's just my part of the US effected I'd say it's a wide spread breakdown of service. I show 7 mbps download speed. Not every call has distortion or background noise or echos but enough that it's become no fun to call people.

MJ Dongle
I was just about to give up on MJ when I goggled MJ sucks. I found a couple of threads that stated to plug the MJ directly into a USB port and forget about the Dongle. I didn't think that possible but I figured what the hell.
Amazingly enough, my service is good now - The echo is gone and people think I'm on a Pots phone. Who knew?

Re: MJ Dongle
The MJ is the dongle. He's talking about the short USB extension cord. It's more likely that the unplugging and replugging of the MJ is what fixed his problem.barkndog wrote:I don't understand...
