Magic Jack shuts down interner connection after 20 seconds
I have used Magic Jack on and off for about 4 months. It didn't work very well on one computer so I switched the setup to a newer lap top. Worked pretty good for about week and then started having problems with not connecting or poor sound quality on both ends. I went to a powered USB and it improved slightly. I recently moved back to the first computer I was using (with powered USB). I removed a lot of the programs from the start up config and I got it to work so it sounds reasonably clear. Unfortunately, my internet connection shuts down after about 20 seconds. As soon as I disconnect, it restarts. I have never tried the customer service as I read enough to know I don't want to be further aggravated. I'm running XP and have 370 kbps upload speed. I sure would like to get this thing running right. Is there a brainiac in the house?

Try bypassing the short extension cable that comes with MJ. Connect the USB device directly to the port (or use a different extension cable).
Others (including myself) have experienced the same condition you describe because the extension cable doesn't make a good connection. For me, if I moved my MJ around it would disconnect and start again (if I had "autorun" enabled in Windows).
