Intermittent One way audio RTP300 (maybe same for PAP2 )

Post by FrankPepe »

Hello all,

Try a different proxy server (UPDATE: THIS DID NOT ENTIRELY WORK)

Just squished a pesky little bug. I could not hear people I was calling from my RTP300 but they could hear me. This just started over the last couple of days. And was happening on 90% of my calls. Messed around with most of the settings but to no avail.

I will probably switch back in a week or so once they fix the servers

Thought this might help someone else having similar problems

P.S. I'd like to try to set up the second line on my RTP300 with the exact same sip credentials but an alternate proxy server. That way when one starts acting up , i can switch to the other just by unplugging the phone line form line 1 and plugging it into line 2. Being careful , of corse, never to have both lines plugged in at the same time. Or do you think just setting it up will cause a problem even though i am only using one at a time?

It's not quite as simple as moving the phone from one jack to the other because the RTP does not know if a phone is actually connected to the jack. You need to also go into the management page for Line 1 and Line 2 and set the first parameter, "Enable Line" to "yes" or "no" as appropriate. It is safe to change both, from no/yes to yes/no or vice versa, at the same time, since hitting the Submit button once will restart the whole ATA part of the router.

Thanks,

Turns out this fix did not completely work for me. It fixed my outgoing calls so I could hear whoever I called. But incoming calls were still broken. Meaning, the If someone called me, I could not hear them when I answered the phone.

Puzzling because this setup has worked fine for over a month uneventfully. I cannot figure out wht might have changed in the lase 3 days that might have disrupted this.

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

thanks!,

That happened most of time when bandwidth was used by other applications. Closing those programs helped. You may have to set up Qos on your router. It works on my ASUS GL5200GU using tomato firmware, yet still in fine tuning.

Since the RTP300 has the ATA and router inside the same case, I believe (only 80% sure) that it already prioritizes its own voice traffic over all else. It is a Linksys, though, so there may be a switch in the control panel that needs to be flipped.
