Free outgoing calls using your mobile phone & Magicjack

Post by user9001 »

OK, here it short and sweet:

If your wireless carrier allows you to call a number for free such as T-MOBILE(my favs) or Verizon(friends and family numbers), you can simply forward your Magicjack to the destination, and then call your Magicjack number from your cell phone.

Simply login to into

http://my.magicjack.com/myindex.html

and then visit

http://my.magicjack.com/myindex.html?myfocus=callFwd

to forward your calls.

After the call is connected, just unforward you MJ.

Remember to set up your MJ number with you wireless carrier so that is in your list (i.e. my favs).

Since I do have a PDA phone, I can do all of this without ever touching a computer, which makes it completely mobile for me. If you do not have a PDA phone, see below**. I simply leave my mobile browser on the MJ site, which enables me to set my call forwarding in about 7 seconds, which pretty much takes all the inconvenience out of this method !!

**If you don't have a PDA phone to set the forwarding, there is a good chance you can still do this with your regular cell phone.

Most built in cell phone browsers are garbage, but if your phone is java capable, then download this great browser !! (Opera Mini)

http://www.opera.com/mini/

I have tested a regular cell phone with this browser and was able to forward my MG number just fine.

If you are a Verizon user, I don't think their regular (non-PDA) phone are java capable. Sorry.

Try it out and let me know how it works for you !!

Seems annoying to have to add any number you want to call to your MJ forwarding number. Why not just add it to the verizon or tmobile free calls list? Just as annoying. I'd rather just use my minutes...

I think the idea is not to use cell minutes when using the cell ...

Not how annoying it might be ...

Great thinking by user9001 for this idea ...
