I just got my Magicjack and for the most part it seems to be working, But just found out if a call comes in and it's not answered, it is not routed to my voicemail. You get this message "We are sorry the number you have dialed is not in service"
I went thru the voice mail setup routine just fine, but If I call the number from lets say my office line, or cell phone or Mom's house.. I get the above message.
I also changed the number under the my.magicjack.com user site and even with the number change I still get the above message.
Anyone see this.. this has to be a phone number routing issue.. it was my understanding that even if the magic jack device is not turned on .. people who call your number will still be routed to the voice mail.
Am I correct on this? Any Ideas on where I can get support for this, I tried the Live Chat and well.. you all know that went no where.
Thanks

Have you spoken to the phone company(ies) that originate these unsuccessful calls? If you are replacing one "bad" MJ number with another in the same exchange (NPA-NXX), it will not fix the problem of that phone company having forgotten to implement the MAC that inaugurated that block of numbers. There are several recent threads here that describe the technical bits of this problem in more detail.
If you post the NPA-NXX of the phone number I may be able to tell you how long ago YMAX inaugurated that block of numbers, which may indicate whether you are the victim of a MAC not yet implemented.

Well the first number I got was 216-744-xxxx the next number is 216-772-xxxx
I appreciate your response but not sure how I go about this "Have you spoken to the phone company(ies) that originate these unsuccessful calls?"
I'd appreciate your feedback regarding if the numbers I have fall into the issue you describe below.
Thanks

First of all, I apologize for misreading your original post. I overlooked the part where you said that you can receive calls but not take voice mail messages. So, my comment about the originating phone company was off the mark, and your problem is squarely in MJ's court as long as you are using their softphone.
It won't help the cause, but for your information 216-744 was inaugurated on 8/29/2008 and 216-772 on 2/11/2009. So, your "new" number is truly newer than your "old" number, but that one isn't very old, either.
