magicJack Repeat pop up - Verify Your Login

Post by howard251 »

I was having problems with my install but followed the advice some people have given on this forum. I created a desktop short cut and changed the information as per the instruction below.
You have to start it the no splash way to get it to load. Otherwise, you will get an error that it's not plugged in.

"C:\Users\YourUserName\appdata\Roaming\mjusbsp\magicjack.exe" /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot X:\magicJack

Just substitute your username and your drive letter for X.
It works and I'm happy for that, but every time I start the program using the desktop short cut I get this pop up screen.

It knows about my phone number and displays it, but I have to enter my email address and password and then click NEXT at the bottom of the pop up.

Is there a way I could get the application to store my information, or something I can manually enter in the reg file so this annoyance can be stopped?

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

I used to get that problem, and it went away after I reformatted the magicjack 'drive' and ran the upgrade.exe that you can get from their website. Search the magicjack forums for 'broken storage' and read about the process of reformatting the drive.

groverwood - you were 100% correct. I had tried the formatting and upgrading many times with tech support, but on my last tech support experience they did mention to make sure I used, "Default allocation size", when I formatted. In the past I had used 512K, and even though all my other setting were correct, FAT and Volume Label: Phone.

I guess that one little format setting made all the difference in the world. After I formatted and upgraded correctly, it works 100% now.

I also want to give thanks to the posters on this message board, with your help my MagicJack is working 100% on VISTA and now my Windows 7 operating system.

It took many frustrating days and perseverance but in the end it was worth it and now I'm a MJ happy camper.

Did you try using Magic Jack tech support? Their live instant support was very helpful.

Are you trying to get it working on Vista or Windows-7. Is it partailly working or can you get it to work but have that annoying pop up message, and or what is the error you are having?

No Howard, I have not tried mj tech support.

I am using windows XP, MJ is working fine, except that it is annoying to log in and verify regularly. My error message is exactly the image you posted in your 1st post. It has started only for last few weeks.

Windows XP is the easiest I think to get Magic Jack working with. I had problems with my Vista & Windows-7 , but yesterday when I finally retured to my retirement home, I tried the install on a Windows XP machine and it was the least troublesome.

Maybe the steps I took to fix my problem is not the same as you need.

There is an option in your Magic Jack software when it's running to contact tech support, also on their website as well.

This is what tech support had me do.

1) click on My Computer, so you can see the disk drives on your system

2) right click on the Magic Jack disk drive and choose format. Choose the the setting I mentioned in this email (default allocation size).

3) after the format you need to click on the update Magic Jack link which I don't have written down, this updates your Magic Jack back to working condition again and hopefully error free with no pop ups.

Tech support will walk you through the above outlined steps and send you the link to update your magic Jack back to working order, that is why I suggest to use the, CHAT WITH MAGIC JACK SUPPORT feature.

Good Luck,
Howard
