How/where to find .net messenger to install on a Thin Client

Further to my project of setting up a TC for my Dad, I next need a messenger program. The T5700 had .net messenger on it. But I've had to switch to a T5710 for this project and it doesn't have .net messenger.

And I can't find an Altiris add/remove package to add it back. I started loading Live Messenger but stopped when the installer indicated it needed 68MB of disk space!!! Talk about bloat.

Question, how to find .net messenger? The web based messenger is a distant alternative, but it won't have the pop-up indicating an incoming instant message.

Miranda and Pigeon are a couple of very nice open source messenger clients. They work with multiple messenger services and will not have a big footprint. Miranda is the smaller of the two.

Thanks for the tip on Miranda. I've installed it and t's doing the job nicely.

You are welcome, I like Miranda and Pigeon better than the standard versions of IM clients. And they can be run off of a USB flash drive if you want.

update. I've reflashed the T5710 to start my setup from fresh again. MSN messenger is now there. Messenger must get removed by one of the add/remove utilities, maybe "remove multiple components"?
