Phone continues to ring
Has anyone had this problem? The phone plugged into my MJ continues to ring on incoming calls, even after the caller has disconnected or left VM. I have to be at the computer to either click on "Accept" or "Ignore" for the phone to stop ringing. It's as if the MJ does not know that the call has ended.
I have tried two MJ, two different computers and three different phones. The USB hub is powered. I even changed my telephone number just to see if that would resolve the issue. The MJ drive has been reformatted several times and I have also removed the MJ keys from the registry.
I have Port 5060 - 5070 open on my router and also open in the Microsoft firewall on my PC. I have also tried turning off the firewall and disabling my virus protection (NOD32).
I have searched this forum and the web for a solution, hope someone out there can help. Thanks.

If you're using a Linksys router, see the wiki FAQ: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... connect.3F
It seems Linksys routers have trouble (in some cases, not all). Someone reported fixing their 30-second disconnect problem by upgrading their router's firmware (or even reflashing with the same version) off Linksys's product page. Others have fixed it by flashing their router with Tomato or DD-WRT (Tomato's more user-friendly IMO, not as powerful or learning curve, but doesn't support as many routers either.).
If you flash your router with Tomato or DD-WRT, you can enable QoS to improve the sound quality of calls.

It's Working!!!!
After reading az2008's post and a few others, I was able to get my MJ working. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router (no version #), I upgraded the firmware to version 4.21.1 and lo and behold the problem went away.
Thanks az2008 for pointing me in the right direction .

Re: It's Working!!!!
The version number is based upon the router's serial number. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR ... ies#WRT54Gbishop-360 wrote:I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router (no version #),
If it's below 5 you can flash to Tomato or DD-WRT. Otherwise you have to use DD-WRT.
But, if it's working for you with a reflash of the Linksys firmware, you might not want to do anything. Flashing to one of the other firmwares would fix "choppy voice" if you have that problem.

Versions of WRT54G above Ver.5 can only have DD-WRT "Micro". It is a tricky flash because the VxWorks killer and MAC address has to be carefully dealt with.
WRT54G with no version number on the belly sticker usually means it is a version 1. If it is a real old WRT54G with no version shown on the belly sticker then version 1 is almost a certainty.
The best WRT54G to own is a version 4. Even if you are lucky enough to own a WRT54G version 4, I think Mark and I agree it is best to flash the router to third party firmware. (FYI- WRT54G V4 is the same as WRT54GL)

It could be that some parameter in the router has a different default value in Linksys native firmware vs. Tomato. I have found that Linksys' default MTU value (Auto, up to 1500) is often too much and needs to be reduced to 1492 or 1432 (trial and error settings that seem to cure). It won't cost you anything to try changing that setting.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I had both the non ending ring when not answered, and the dropped incoming calls after 30 seconds, I have a Linksys WRT54GL v1.1. I upgraded the firmware to DD-WRT as per instructions here http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WR ... n_Tutorial and it fixed both problems the only remaining problem I have is no caller ID. I'm runing Windows 7 and I do get caller ID in XP so I'm not blaming anything as Im sure in time there will be a fix. Anyway I wanted to confirm for those running a Linksys router that DD-WRT will fix both of the common problems listed in this thread.
remember the new user name for DD=WRT is " root" and the password is " admin" , Im very glad I new that when it flashed successful and I tried blank and admin, then I remembered.
