linking MJ with Grand Central

Post by bukzin »

I a fairly certain there are some clever ways to extend usage
of MJ thru Grand Central.

Any of you come up with some?

I wish I could get a Grand Central account to play with, but when I found out about it the beta test was already closed.

'Google Voice'

Post by bukzin »

GrandCentral anounced they are expanding GC and giving it a new name
Google Voice.

They also said more accounts will be available soon.

I also looked at expanding my MJ service with Gizmo
but that seemed a bit tricky for us lay-people.

Any 'user friendly' tips for me to get a bit more out of MJ?

How long have they been promising to be up "soon"? I originally tried to get a number about 3 months ago and got that message that they would let me know soon. I was told by someone else that its been even longer than that.

Google Voice

Post by bukzin »

Here is whats happening.

They have done some major changes to GrandCentral
and re-named it Google Voice.

The old Grand Central customers are being 'upgraded' first
then everyone else will get a Google Voice account.

I got my upgrade and it pretty amazing
calls to all US landlines and cell phones
texting all US
voicemail sent to email (to read or listen to)
2 cents a minute calls to Europe
call forwarding to several phones
place calls from cell phone, landline or computer

Almost all free.

A few of the services are a bit clunky but over-all 'such a deal!'

Will I be able to retrieve and use my home phone number which I have presently ported out to numbergarage.com? The service is costing me $9.95 a month to forward my calls to the MagicJack. It would be nice not to have to use numbergarage anymore.
