Using the Dongle with asterisk?

My MJ is in the mail, and I'm leaning towards using the account to play with asterisk, what I'm wondering though is if there is a way to let asterisk use the dongle to provide dialtone/phone service to my home wiring, or is there no driver for it to use the hardware?

Search the forum for "linux dongle". Someone here was playing with that scenario, but I don't think he found any drivers that passed the DTMF or Ring Signal, only the audio stream. The interface chip is from TigerJet. They used to have a bunch of software on their retail site, CUPhone, but that site seems to have disappeared.

Update - I just found out why CUPhone is out of business and why TigerJet's customer friendliness has dried up. The reason is that last June TigerJet was bought out by YMAX, parent of magicJack.

Apparently YMAX has learned a valuable marketing lesson from MicroSoft. When there is a product that does something exceedingly well and might help others compete against you - buy the company. By buying TigerJet, MJ has cornered the market on the TigerJet chip, preventing anyone else from using this unique device.

I will now look through my old hard drives in the hope of finding archives of TigerJet and CUPhone drivers and middleware. With any luck, there is a Linux interface tucked away somewhere.

The primary reason I'm getting it is that I spend some time in phone company CO's and Colo facilities where I can't use a Cell phone due to.. well... complete paranoia and idiocy on the part of policy makers, as a cursory reading on the label of pretty much any component in the CO will show you that its actually shielded sufficiently to prevent any issues from Cell phones.

Hi! I have been reading in the forum just about anything that has to do with audio quality because my MJ works fairly well but I get stuttering voice all the time and it's driving me crazy. I was reading about Asterisk and entered their web page but I really don't understand what it is for.
I have a new Dell PC desktop and a high speed Internet connection (using a ADI adapter I think it is called); my OS is Vista Home Edition which works fine. I have antivirus, firewall and the sort but even disabling them I get the bad audio quality. I would appreciate some info on Asterisk, what is it for, how does it work, and so on.

Also would appreciate any comments on switching my cordless GE phone attached to MJ to a stereo headset.

I am sorry. Above, I meant PCI adapter and not A..whatever I wrote.. It is like a router but it is connected to the back of my computer and gets the Internet signal from a computer nearby that has the Internet connection.
