no dial tone

been working with this thing for about 20 hours now .. still can't make a call using the corded phone. I've been to tech services at MJ, they still give me the same thing over and over again but no solution. What I just noticed now is .. that when i go to handset on the softphone i hear a dial tone on the telephone. But when i go to telephone on the softphone i loose the dial tone on the telephone. I can make calls out on the softphone and go to voicemail. I can receive calls on the softphone. I've updated the MJ software.
I'm running widows xp service pack 3
I think i'm almost there but missing something and i don't know what!
I'm running comcast internet and running a router.

Which advice in previously posted threads have you tried so far? What specific advice has helped you toward success? What specific advice has moved you farther from success?
