I can't hear the caller.

Post by rverette »

I've been using my MJ with my HP Thin Client ever since I bought it. It's been a long time. (I went through an annual renewal cycle) I've always tried to keep up with the information herein, and excpet for small glitches, the result has been satisfactory. Beginning yesterday, and getting worse over time, I have not been able to hear the caller's voice. They can hear me, because I ask them to call me on another line and then they do.

I have forwarded the MJ to that other line, and all is ok regarding the incoming phone calls, but the problem still exists. I've rebooted the Thin Client, but to no avail.

What should I do to begin troubleshooting?

It's the same problem a lot of us are having and we've all been through the morons that tell us to check if the blue light is on and then set the priorities to background services.... duh!.

Let's group all together in the same tread since we all have the same problem, that way if one of us find the solution all of us will be able to benefit from it instead of trying to follow 3 or 4 different threads that relate to the same issue.

Windows Vista:
1. Go to Start > Control Panel
2. In Control Panel, select the option that says Hardware and Sound
3. Under the listing for Sound, select Manage Audio Devices
4. Under Recording and Sounds tabs, you will find all available devices. To set a default device, right click on one of them and select Set as Default Device.

I already replied to you in another thread, that's why I'm asking to keep the threads together, to avoid asking one thing in one thread and getting the reply in another one.

I also replied that I already tried that and it didn't work.

It's one thing to select a default device and another to check a box saying ONLY use the default device. Again, vista does NOT allow you to do that.
Almost 99.99% of the time the default device is already set to speakers, otherwise you wouldn't be able to hear anything.

Try using the softphone. Using the drop down menu make sure you have the appropriate device listed for your computer. If you have it set on telephone, then it should be the 'USB INTERNET PHONE" , if the headset then it should be whatever audio /sound card you have on your computer. Also check that the sliders for volume are 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up.

Yep try checking your Control panel, then audio devices>handset or tigerjet for the devices, if you have a vista your computer will automatically set the volume to 0 for the handset. try changing the volumes there (it works for me)
