A cell phone wont work in the boondocs and neither will a MagicJack. But both will work in town, so why would I pay $49.95 a month for cell phone service when the MagicJack is only $1.67 a month and can do the same thing?
I have no need for a cell phone except when I am driving around down town and want to call my wife. Free WiFi will suit that purpose.
All other times I can wait until I get to a computer to get my phone calls. I have a life, and it doesnt include walking around with a cell phone embedded in my skull. I realize that is a very un PC statement to make, but I doubt that most of the people that have a cell phone connected to their ear permanently can show me that it in any way makes a major difference in their life, politically, financially, spiritually, healthily, or socially. Therefore the cost of $600 a year to implement it makes no sense to me.
Oh yes, the computer is not just there for MagicJack, its there for all the other functions I am adding like rearview camera, OBD monitoring and several others, the MagicJack is just an added value.

Sounds like an interesting project. I don't have one for sale, but I get all my thin clients on eBay, where I've found the best prices.

For that occasional call to the wife, get a tracfone for a one-time charge of $20 and a 60 minute charge card for $20 which lasts for 90 days, then but another when needed. Doesn't cost $600 a year and is a whole lot simpler. Wally-world can set you right up. (I don't work there or have any affiliation with them.)jimisbell wrote:A cell phone wont work in the boondocs and neither will a MagicJack.
