Reinstallation of magic jack

Post by balduck »

I've had my magic jack unplugged from my computer for about three months. While it was unplugged I reinstalled Windows XP and ungraded to Service Pack 3.
When I plugged my Magicjack back in it wouldn't work. The software is gone from my system and the Magicjack disks have disappeared. I suppose this happened when I reinstalled and updated windows but the dongle should still have the software on it and it should re install I would think.
It also seems to be acting like a malfunctioning hard drive. It was causing my system to crash and freeze. It works fine on my laptop so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very thankful for the help.

Do any other USB devices work on that computer plugged into the port you are trying to use your MJ on? Are the USB controller drivers loaded in your new XP install? If you go to device manager are there any !s next to any devices?

Have you tried the MJ on another computer?

Charlie,

When you got your sp3 update from MS, did it turn off your autoplay function for the USB drives?

Thanks guys. I got it working. I fooled around in the device manager and it works fine now.

Thanks,
