I'm new to MJ and both these solutions seem to work. Which is a better solution the PAP2T-NA or the RTP300? Is there a better solution than these two?
Thanks,
Mike

In my personal opinion, I prefer the RTP300 since it has a router built-in and it is pretty much plug 'n play. It works pretty well and for those who are on a public IP with your broadband internet service provider and it takes the place of your existing router. Plus, it manages your VoIP and data traffic without too much user intervention.
The only exception of ADSL which is hit and miss since they are utilising a modem/router gateway setup and for the most part you are not on a public IP. The RTP300 is fairly easy to obtain through most online auction outlets for a fair price if you are willing to unlock them from their former service provider yourself.
PAP2T-NA however is abit on the pricy side and not as widely available and for me I don’t particularly care to pay suggested retail prices. They are great if you already own a router and don’t mind to do a little bit of setup and making sure your QoS is set correctly so your VoIP and data traffic does not fight each other for the bandwidth causing audio jitters.
Overall each has it advantages and disadvantages; I have been setting up mostly RTP300’s for those who want MJ’s services has to offer but don’t want their computer on 24/7…

That's my quarter's worth, but not enough to call someone who really cares at a pay telephone booth...
unlocking of RTP300 used with Vonage service
I am looking for a thread or a link which provides a step by step tutorial as to how to unlock the RTP300 used with Vonage service provider. I would appreciate if someone would help me. Thanks in anticipation.

anyone know of a link of how to connect/configure MJ with the RTP300. Sounds like a good alternate solution except that it is not wireless. I have my HP tc5710 running wireless to my Trendnet wireless router This is . ideal for the kid's laptops. ...My two cents worth,,,lol Hope others will contribute their hoop ups to this forum.

Unlocking an RTP300 v1 is not too difficult do. Here is the link: http://www.bargainshare.com/index.php?showtopic=87504
Updating the firmware to an -NA version is the tricky part which requires you to modify the CRC via an HEX editor so it will accept it. When I have a moment; I will have to post some screen shots on the configuration. There are some posts in this forum which already has the modified CRC for the one starts with a "V" (need I say more) for it to accept without too much issues.
As for routers with WiFi and ATA combinations. Personal experience I don't really have too much luck with them. I get the phone part and the hardwired part working but the WiFi can sometimes flaky at best. I prefer just utilising seperate Wireless Access Point and set its internal login IP to a static outside of the router's dyanmic range so I have the ability of controlling it remotely and not worry about breaking something in the process.
The WRTP54g is the cousin of the RTP300 just with WiFi (if my memory serves me correctly Linksys does not produce an -NA version anymore)...
