Firstly, thanks to MajicDump for the detailed pics found in this thread and the SPACONF dump of his PAP2 config. It made setup a snap.
Firstly, since I bought this for my duaghter who is now starting gab fest, I decided to give MajicJack a shot. I wanted a non-pc solution as well so I bought a PAP2-NA v1 on eBay. I also bought an AT&T DECT 6.0 EL51209 to go with it. One thing that was driving me nuts was that the custom ring tones would not ring right with it. So I changed the Ring Waveform to Sinusoid. That fixed that issue.
Once I started using the phone, I also notice that there was this annoying hum in the background. I found a post on DSLREPORTS which talked about the issue. I got a piece of old phone cord and shorted the red/green pair, plugged it into line 2 on the PAP2 and the hum went away. I will probably add the 100 ohm resister between the red and green this weekend as well like the post suggests.
Lastly, and probably most interesting, my kid figured out how to get three way calling working. She was pestering me about it and I told her that three way calling didn't work the same as our house phone and that the ## and #* thing was not working either. Since I couldn't get it working with the MajicJack nor the PAP2 I had pretty much given up. Well, just to prove me wrong, as most kids do, she managed three way calling just like we do on our normal line and started bragging about it. What is really wierd is that I couldn't manage that when I was using the MajicJack. I don't know if this is a combination of circumstances, i.e. The PAP2, AT&T DECT phone and the proxy (I am using the Miami proxy) I am on, but it works. And just to make sure that she really did do it, I tried it myself. I don't know if this is recent as part of some upgrade, but what is neat is that the ## thing is no longer needed and works the traditional way. I really hate it when my kid proves me wrong. Geez..
Anyway, I hope this helps folks out.
Take care..
Smee
