Welcome to the forum hanouda. I would tell you the answers but you would not learn anything. Soooooo click on "Search" (just under the black title) and key in "POTS AND disconnect" w/o the quotes. Understand the procedure is different depending whether you are replacing a 2nd phone line, or on DSL so do the research.hanouda wrote:I am new to this Majic Jack, ... get all my phones to ring in my house? also is there a way I can receive calls and make calls without keeping my laptop on 24 hours a day? ... Good to hear the MJ is working really well for you. As others have replied, the answers to your questions are discussed with lots of detailed step by step to do what you want. In short, yes you can hook MJ up so all your phones (to a limit, because the MJ adapter doesn't have the same ability as your phone company system to ring a lot of phones simltaneously). You can maybe turn most of the ringers off and leave maybe 1 or 2. Read also the advice of completely disconnecting your house phone system from your previous service. Yes you can run your MJ on other devices so you can turn your laptop off at night. See the sub-forum about Thin Clients and in the technicala support section, discussions about special routers (search for ATA).
