I read somewhere (not sure if it was here or in MJ site's FAQ) that the MJ vaoicemail kicks in after 4 rings. If you are able to set your internal phone system voicemail to pick up the call in 3 rings, then you should be able to use your phone system's voicemail.

I wonder what the big deal is for MJ! Why would / should they care if its turned on or off? The average homeowner would probably want to use the home's VM rather than theirs, wouldn't they? All these things should be user defined.

MagicJack receives revenue for every call terminated on it's network. This would include voicemail. So not allowing MagicJack users to turn off the voicemail feature is way of preserving this revenue stream. chiguy is correct about MagicJack going to voicemail on the fourth ring. I also prefer to have my voicemail messages handled by an answering machine at my home. I have set up the answering to answer calls after the third ring. I would prefer the fourth ring because sometimes when I am home I pick up after the answering machine has started. Even with this small inconvenience using my answering machine works best for me as I can tell immediately if someone has called.
